Local Restaurants

Bar El Peñon, Humilladero

tapas at El PenonBar El Peñon can be found in warm and welcoming premises in the centre of the village. The beamed dining area is very attractively decorated with many pictures and hunting mementoes. Tapas are good and very varied, including garlic chicken, fried fish, chorizo and a selection of pork dishes. Our photograph shows just some of the tapas available on a particular day. The restaurant menu has a lot of choice, including fresh grilled prawns and salmon in Malaga wine, and a large selection specially for children.

Bar Ramón, Humilladero

selection of tapas at Bar RamonA large and traditional Spanish bar in the town centre, Bar Ramón has a variety of tapas and a very varied restaurant menu. Most of the dishes can be ordered as takeaways. Prices are very reasonable. Ramón also makes excellent pizzas that are very popular with children! A wonderful place to sit outside on a balmy summer evening and watch the bustle of the local village.

Bar El Puentecillo, Humilladero

This is another friendly bar that specializes in a huge variety of filled baguettes but also is very good for tapas and serves delicious locally-made ice-cream.  It is just opposite the supermarket so it makes a great place to relax while the other members of your party do the shopping!

Bar Mora, Humilladero

A traditional bar by the village square serving reasonably priced local specialities - very busy at Fiesta time! Bar Mora is a great place to sample a real Andalucian breakfast, such as toasted molletes with piquant sobrasada.

Finca Eslava, Antequera

A converted cortijo just outside Antequera on the road to Cordoba with a beautiful patio andaluz where children can play while parents finish their meal. Very popular with the locals for weddings and business lunches, this is an ideal place to celebrate that special occasion. The owner takes his jamón very seriously indeed. After sampling some iberico with some local bread and garlic infused olive oil you will definitely want to take some home and the Eslava sells a variety of hams and cured cheeses for you to take away and enjoy every day of your holiday.

El Tintero, Malaga

A plate of langoustines being prepared at El Tintero.A trip to El Tintero is an unmissable experience for anyone staying in the Malaga area. It is set in the old fisherman's quarter of Malaga known as Pedregalejo, which is now a sought-after part of the city with a long beach bordered by many seafood restaurants-the most famous of which is the Tintero. Its uniqueness stems not only from the incredible freshness of the fish but from the way in which the food is served. Many waiters make their way around the restaurant shouting the names of the dishes they are carrying and the diners call them over whenever their chosen dishes come into view.  Most of the fish is prepared on the barbecue or grill and the variety is endless. On any one day sole, bass, red mullet, bream, 'rosada', monkfish, lobster and prawns of different sizes will pass by your table. Simply signal to the waiter and it can be yours!

There is a playground next to the restaurant so that children can play while their parents spend a happy afternoon eating and drinking. The long sandy beach is a good place to relax before and after your meal.
